Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Psalm 27 1

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

6And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

9Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

11Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Subject: The Heart of a Warrior

  • We know that we are on the battlefield for our Lord and we are soldiers in the army of the Lord.
  • We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Ephesians 6:12
  • The physical heart is an organ that pumps blood, but the spiritual heart is our path to God.
  • The enemy will always attempt to wage war against us. This is Satan's mission.
  • We must be prepared for anything that comes our way. We must put on the whole armor of God.
  •  Be prepared with these precepts: We must focus on God: We must have full confidence in God's awesome power: We must practice fellowship with God: We must worship in the house of the Lord: We must seek God's face: We must live an upright life & please God.
  • They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
  • Prayer is always welcome in this Christian life.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Revelation 21:1-5 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Subject: Five Things To Consider of the New Year

  • We always made resolutions for New Year.
  • Question? Do you like good music?  We need to sing to the Lord a new song. God's love and grace, mercy, are all we need.
  • Let us consider a new heart.  Ezekiel 36:26 - I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a heart of flesh.
  • A new spirit, God has promised us.
  • Jeremiah 31:31 - Behold, the days come, said the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah.
  • We should consider a name change. Revelation 2:17 - The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give him some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on that stone will be written a new name that no one can understand except the one who receives it.
  • If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Luke 18:9-14To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Scripture: Psalm 27:1-6The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

Subject: Trusting In God In Our Times Of Trial

  • We are going to have anxiousness and are looking for some source of security.
  • We can look for that security in money, business or other things.
  • The answer is the Lord is my light & my salvation; whom shall I fear?!
  • We must have a personal and right relationship with God.
  • Lots of times we find ourselves in darkness but the Lord is our light. And he is our strong deliverer. (Salvation)
  • So whom should we fear?
  • Proverbs 18:10 - The name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.
  • Romans 8:31 - What then shall we say about these things?  If God is for us, who can b against us?
  • Press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
  • Dwell in the house of the Lord forever; Meditate on the Word of God
  • We must study to show ourselves approved.  2 Timothy 2:15
  • Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of virtue, and praise... think on these things.  Philippians 4:8

May 8, 2022 - Happy Mother's Day

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Matthew 15:21-2821 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Subject: It's A Real Mother For You

  • There are loads of ministries in many churches.
  • Motherhood is certainly a ministry.
  • Jesus entered Gentile territory and encountered a woman.
  • He seemed to take a rough tone with her but we must remember, he knew what was in her heart.
  • The woman saw Jesus as only human but with miracle powers.
  • The woman was desperate for help for your daughter who was possessed by a demon.
  • Question for all of us.... What do you do when you don't know what to do?
  • She went on a search for help. This miracle was not of the same faith or beliefs as her but an outsider.
  • Question for all of us......  Is Jesus a stranger to you or me?
  • How many times have we failed to recognize Jesus?
  • Three cries of the woman.....She cried out for mercy.....She cried out for the son of David.....She cried out for her daughter.
  • She never gave up her plea to Jesus.
  • With all the objections from the disciples and the silence from Jesus, she still did not give up.
  • In this exchange Jesus is teaching the woman to move her faith to a stronger position.
  • It's important for us to realize who Jesus is and was. Jesus was the son of Mary and is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
  • The woman first thought of Jesus as just a man but in the end worshipped him as Lord.
  • She humbled herself to Jesus and Jesus said, "Woman, your faith is great!"
  • Once you have an encounter with Jesus, your life will never be the same.

Sunday, April 10, 2022

April 10, 2022 - Palm Sunday

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Mark 11:1-10 - Now as they approached Jerusalem, near Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go to the village ahead of you. As soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here.  If anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, ' The Lord needs it and will send it back here soon,'"  So they went and found a colt tied at a door, outside in the street, and untied it.  Some people standing there said to them, "What are you doing, untying that colt?" They replied as Jesus had told them, and the bystanders let them go.  Then they brought the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it.  Many spread their cloaks on the road and others spread branches they had cut in the fields.  Both those who went ahead and those who followed kept shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!  Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!"  Then Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. And after looking around at everything, he went out to Bethany with the twelve since it was already late.

Subject: A Committed Faith

  • Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
  • Are you blessing Jesus one day and condemning him the next?
  • Does the words of our mouths match the meditation of our hearts?
  • Do we have religion but not a relationship with Jesus.
  • A committed faith is a Christ centered faith and not a self-centered faith.
  • A committed faith is driven by relationship. We must get to know him better.
  • Jesus will order our steps and direct our paths. Psalm 37:23
  • Jesus got phrases for his healing abilities; He was phrases for thinking to be set free from the Romans; He was phrased because it was a popular thing to do.
  • Through the mock trial, the people quickly turn on him.
  • Our faith must not be swayed by our own trials and tribulations.
  • Our duty is to trust God.
  • Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.

Scripture: Luke 13:31-35 - At that time, some Pharisees came up and said to Jesus, "Get away from here, because Herod wants to kill you." But he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, "Look, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will complete my work.  Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible that a prophet should be killed outside Jerusalem.'  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!  Look, your house is forsaken! And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, "Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!"

Subject: Yearning For The Heart Of God

  • God is waiting for us.  Reach out to him, that's what we need to do.
  • God wants a "right" relationship with us.
  • God sent his only begotten Son to reconcile with us.
  • God gave us the free gift of salvation which is Jesus Christ....if only we would accept the gift.
  • The Word became flesh to walk among us.
  • John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  • The choice is ours to accept or not.
  • Psalm 34:8 - O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusts in him.

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Jeremiah 17:5-10 & Luke 6:17-26 - The Lord says, "I will put a curse on people who trust in mere human beings, who depend on mere flesh and blood for their strength, and whose hearts have turned away from the Lord.  They will be like a shrub in the desert. They will not experience good things even when they happen. It will be as though they were growing in the desert, in a salt land where no one can live. My blessing is on those people who trust in me, who put their confidence in me.  They will be like a tree planted near a stream whose roots spread out toward the water. It has nothing to fear when the heat comes.  Its leaves are always green It has no need to be concerned in a year of drought. It does not stop bearing fruit.  The human mind is more deceitful than anything else.  It is incurably bad. Who can understand it?  I, the Lord, probe into people's minds. I examine people's hearts. I deal with each person according to how he has behaved. I give them what they deserve based on what they have done. Luke -  Then he came down with them and stood on a level place. And a large number of his disciples had gathered along with a vast multitude from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon. They came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases, and those who suffered from unclean spirits were cured. The whole crowd was trying to touch him, because power was coming out from him and healing them all.  Then he looked up at his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God belongs to you.  Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied.  Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.  Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject you as evil on account of the Son of Man!  Rejoice in that day, and jump for joy, because you reward is great in heaven.  For their ancestors did the same things to the prophets.  But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your comfort already.  Woe to you who are well satisfied with food now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.  Woe to you wen all people speak well of you, for their ancestors did the same things to the false prophets.

Subject: Things Aren't Always What They Seem

  • We are blessed when we follow God.
  • We're blessed if we are in good standing with God.
  • Laugh not for later you will weep.
  • Be mindful of where our blessings come from.
  • Choose God in all things.

Scripture: Genesis 37:23,24,27, &28 - When Joseph reached his brothers, they stripped him of his tunic, the special tunic that he wore.  Then they took him and threw him into the cistern.  Come, let's sell him to the Ishmaelites, but let's not lay a hand on him, for after all, he is our brother, our own flesh.  His brothers agreed.  So when the Midianite merchants passed by, Joseph's brothers pulled him out of the cistern and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver.  The Ishmaelites then took Joseph to Egypt.

Scripture: Luke 5:1-5 - Now Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing around him to hear the word of God.  He saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.  He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little way form the shore. Then Jesus sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.  When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and lower your nets for a catch."  Simon answered, "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your word I will lower the nets."

Scripture: Galatians 5:16-26 - This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.  For the flesh has desires tat are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires tat are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want.  But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.  Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity. idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions, envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things.  I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God!  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh wit its passions and desires.  If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.  Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.

Subject: God's Goals for Our Lives

  • God's words keeps on proving itself.
  • When we exhibit God's traits (v 22-23), God is well pleased.
  • Only as believers have we inherited these traits.
  • Jesus has left us with the Holy Spirit.
  • When we are saved we are born into an new family, the Christian family.
  • We have the in dwelling Spirit.
  • Our character and conduct matters.
  • We are to yield to the will of God thus replacing our own will and earthly desires.
  • Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things are passed away. Behold all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Settle in the land and maintain your integrity!  Then you will take delight in the Lord, and he will answer your prayers.
  • We must yield ourselves to God.

May 9, 2021 - Happy Mother's Day

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2 - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Subject: Looking Unto Jesus

  • Jesus will never leave us or forsake us.
  • We as Christians are in a marathon race which requires endurance and patience.
  • Lots of things can get in the way of serving God such as family, job, etc.
  • Do we only look to Jesus when trouble comes? Or do we look to him in all things?
  • Whatsoever we ask in my name, that will I do.  John 14:13
  • Always go to God through Jesus for all things that we need.
  • Our God will supply all of our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
  • Romans 12:1 - Present ourselves as living sacrifices.
  • God strengthens our faith through trials.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Minister Malone

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:5-9 - And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, and said, O lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?  Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend of ever? And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (For thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

Subject: What To Do When We Are Persecuted

  • How do we respond?
  • Precepts to help.....Be conformed to likeness of our God.
  • We should resemble our Lord through our bodies, souls and minds through Jesus Christ.
  • We need to apply God's blessings.
  • God is concerned by the finished product. Have we been tried by the fire?
  • Isaiah 48:10 - See, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
  • For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12
  • Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
  • God uses all things for his good.
  • Lean not on our own understanding . Proverbs 3:5-6
  • For perfect love drives away all fear.

Welcome & Seasons Greetings from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh and Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Isaiah 40:29-31 - He gives power to the faith; and to them that have no might he increases strength.  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Subject: The Rewards for Waiting

  • Waiting. Is a curse or a blessing?
  • Waiting on the Lord. It's an easy task. But as believers we sometimes have impatience with God.
  • All things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.    Romans 8:28
  • Godly waiting requires action from us.
  • While waiting, we must pray.
  • Three things to remember: (1) be patient; We try to manipulate God to hurry (2) be trusting; God is in control and has our best interest in mind; & (3) be quiet; We should have quiet strength and have a calmness of spirit.
  • Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
