Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Genesis 37:2-5 - This is the account of Jacob. Joseph, his seventeen year old son, was taking care of the flocks with his brothers. Now he was a youngster working with the sons of Bihah and Zilpah his father's wives. Joseph brought back a bad report about them to their father. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons because he was a son born to him late in life, and he made a special tunic for him. When Joseph's brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated Joseph and were not able to speak to him kindly. Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him even more.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant and Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Genesis 37:23,24,27, &28 - When Joseph reached his brothers, they stripped him of his tunic, the special tunic that he wore.  Then they took him and threw him into the cistern.  Come, let's sell him to the Ishmaelites, but let's not lay a hand on him, for after all, he is our brother, our own flesh.  His brothers agreed.  So when the Midianite merchants passed by, Joseph's brothers pulled him out of the cistern and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver.  The Ishmaelites then took Joseph to Egypt.

Subject: Walking In Dark Valleys

  • Joseph was his father's favorite.
  • Joseph was a dreamer.
  • His brothers disliked him and plotted to, sold him into slavery.
  • But Joseph held onto his faith.
  • His master observed that the Lord was with Joseph and that the Lord made everything Joseph was doing a success.  Genesis 39:3
  • In all the difficulties Joseph went through, he kept is faith in the Lord.
  • We as Christians are sealed in Holy Spirit.  Ephesians 1:13
  • Romans 8:35-39 - Who will separate us form the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  No, in all these things we have completed victory through him who loved us!  For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Genesis 3:17-19 -But to Adam he said, "Because you obeyed your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat from it,' cursed is the ground thanks to you; in painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.  It will produce thorns and thistles for you, but you will eat the grain of the field.  By the sweat of your brow you will eat food until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you will return."

Subject: The Reason for Our Labor

  • God created the heavens and the earth.
  • Genesis 1:27 - God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.
  • Man will continue to labor until Jesus comes back because of our disobedience.
  • There will be terrible time in the end days.
  • 2 Timothy 3:1-5 - But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather that loving God. They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these.
  • Our labor is because of sin.
  • Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Genesis 6:5-8 - But the Lord saw that the wickedness of humankind had become great on the earth. Every inclination of the thoughts of their minds was only evil all the time.  The Lord regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and he was highly offended.  So the Lord said, "I will wipe humankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth - everything from humankind to animals, including creatures that move on the ground and birds of the air, for I regret that I have made them."  But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord.

Subject:  The Story of Noah

  • You shall know the truth & the truth will make you free. John 8:32
  • God told Noah to build the ark.
  • People doubted Noah's sanity.
  • Doubters of this world, non-believers will face the wrath of God.
  • Do not be deceived. God will not be mocked. For a person will reap what he sows..  Galatians 6:7
  • We need to hold onto God's unchanging hand.
  • Don't be like the crowd in Noah's time.....the unbelievers.
  • Be a discerning Christian.
