Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

We Will See You All In the New Year January 8, 2023

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Luke 2:8-11 - And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Subject: How to Choose & Receive the Perfect Gift

What gifts represent:

  • A gift can represent our status.
  • A gift can represent the value of the person receiving the gift.
  • A gift can be given as a symbol of good will.
  • Romans 8:32 - Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for  us all - how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?
  • God gave his best, his Son.
  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son. That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16
  • Romans 3:23-24 - For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But hey are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
  • Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Luke 3:1-6 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was ruler of Galilee, and his brother Philip ruler of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias ruler of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. He went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah,

“The voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
    make his paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough ways made smooth,
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’ ”

Subject:  Preparing For the Coming of Christ

  • John the Baptist was to announce the coming of Christ.
  • John has great influence of the people.
  • Emanuel = God with us.
  • Advent = the preparation of the coming of Christ.
  • The four weeks = Hope, Precept of love, Joy & Peace
  • We have what we have because of God through Jesus the Christ.
  • God is the best thing that ever happened to us.
  • Watch & Wait = this is what Jesus causes us to do.
  • We as Christians should stand up for the truth; to forgive; allow God to teach us the right path.
  • What we do with Jesus is our gift back to God.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Philippians 4:6 - Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.

Subject: With Thanksgiving

  • We have so much to be thankful for. The Word, our families, etc.
  • We need to be reminded to be thankful sometimes.
  •  Do we fall into toxic thinking and forget to be thankful and prayerful in our lives?
  • We should have an attitude of gratitude.
  • We should apply the Word of God to transform & renew our minds.
  • We should surround ourselves with loving and like minded people.
  • We should pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).
  • 2 Corinthians 9:15 - Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.
  • No matter what's happening in our lives, we as Christians have thanksgiving. We have the power of God to sustain us, strengthen us, we have to whole armor of God, we have the salvation from God.  We can face any situation because we have God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit on our side.
  • Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for food to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
  • Won't God do it!!!!
  • And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:7

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Mark 11:22-2422 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[a] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Subject: Mountain Moving God

  • Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
  • We must have faith in all things in God.
  • In God - our faith has to have an object, God who is our true value.
  • Faith without a focus is nothing, but faith in God will move all things in our paths if it is his will.
  • Faith requires us to know the object, God. We must know our God intimately.
  • We must have a relationship with God. Study to show ourselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15).
  • The purpose of our faith is to move mountains in our text today.
  • This means to remove obstacles.
  • All things are possible through Christ who strengthen us.
  • The power of Christ comes through the authority of All Mighty God.
  • If we don't doubt God, we too, have God's authority to move mountains.

Welcome from  Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Luke 18:1-8 - Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.  He said, "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected people.  There was also a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, 'Give me justice against my adversary.'  For a while he refused, but later on he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God nor have regard for people, yet because this widow keeps on bothering me, I will give her justice, or in the end she will wear me out by her unending pleas.'"  And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge says!  Won't God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?  Will he delay long to help them?  I tell you, he will give them justice speedily.  Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?'

Subject: Keep On Keeping On

  • We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Ephesians 6:12
  • We should always pray and not faint.  Luke 18:1
  •  We must stay steadfast in the Word.
  • God has the power to deliver us if we only persist.
  • We must hold onto Jesus and the words of truth.
  • Hebrews 12:1-2 -  Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
  • Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Galatians 6:9

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Psalm 13:1-6 - How long, Lord, will you continue to ignore me? How long will you pay no attention to me?  How long must I worry, and suffer in broad daylight? How long will my enemy gloat over me?  Look at me! Answer me, O Lord my God! Revive me, or else I will die!  Then my enemy will say, "I have defeated him!: Then my foes will rejoice because I am upended.  But I trust in your faithfulness.  May I rejoice because of your deliverance! I will sing praises to the Lord when he vindicates me.

Subject: How To Go From Doubting to Shouting

  • In this Psalm there is a weeping and then joy.
  • Life around us changes often but our God never changes.
  • David begins with a woe is me but in the end is lifted up.
  • Four concerns: (1) He asked God how long would he would be ignored or forgotten? Satan deflects and shows a portion of the truth. We know that our God will never leave us.  (2) How long would God hide his face from David? Do we feel separated from God? But God is a rewarder of those who seek him. We must from time to time, cry out to God. In everyone's life, a little rain must fall. If there is too much sun we complain or if there is too much rain we complain. (3) How long must I counsel myself? God is always there. He never changes. (4) How long are my enemies going to keep messing with me? If I were you....  Who needs friends or enemies like those? We must delight ourselves in the Lord for he will give your the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
  • There is a time and season for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1
  • We must experience the joy that only God gives.
  • We must wait on the Lord.
  • David stated his case before the Lord.
  • David trusted in God.
  • Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests by know unto God, and the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer:  Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Acts 16:19-2619 But when her owners saw that their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. 20 And when they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men are Jews, and they are disturbing our city. 21 They advocate customs that are not lawful for us as Romans to accept or practice.” 22 The crowd joined in attacking them, and the magistrates tore the garments off them and gave orders to beat them with rods. 23 And when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, ordering the jailer to keep them safely. 24 Having received this order, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, 26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened.

Subject: Jailhouse Rock

  • A girl had an evil spirit which gave her a way to tell fortunes. She continuously followed Paul and Silas around saying the following:
  • These men are the servants of the most high God who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation. Acts 16:17
  • Even Satan knew who Jesus was.
  • Mark 5:6 - When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. ... When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw himran to meet him,
  • Don't you know that the devil is about his business and we as Christians should be about ours.
  • Paul became vexed with the girl and cast out the demon. Her master was very angry about this and dragged Paul & Silas to the authorities. They were then beaten and jailed.
  • But God sent an earthquake and freed them.
  • Psalm 46 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
  • The reality is that there will be difficult times, but God promises to be our refuge. When buildings crumbling and our world is shaken. God has not failed us.

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Luke 11:1 & 5-10 - Now Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he stopped, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."  And he said unto them, "Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine in his hour is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.  I say unto you, Though he will not rose and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needs.  And I say unto you, Ask, and is shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  For every one that asks receive; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

Subject: Push, Push, Push

  • Push - meaning to persist until a certain result is achieved.
  • Today, for us as Christians, push should mean persist in prayer unceasingly.
  • Jesus depended on God the Father.
  • We are to do God's will not our own.  When He says to push against something, don't give up the task that He has  bid you even if "you" seem to be getting nowhere!
  • Pray!
  • Prayer is not learned in a classroom but in a closet.
  • Luke 5:16 - Yet Jesus himself frequently withdrew to the wilderness and prayed.
  • In the Garden of Gethsemane - Matthew 26:36-46 (Read)
  • Jesus wants us to pray persistently.
  • David said in a prayer, "I will bless the Lord at times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord. The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.  O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together." Psalm 34:1-3

Subject:  He Is Still God

  • Great is the Lord.
  • He is worthy to be praised. Psalms 18:3
  • God is sovereign.

Scripture: Psalm 33:20 - We wait for the Lord; he is our deliverer and shield.

Subject: Our Waiting Brings Help From Our God

  • Lord help us to hold out!
  • We must wait for the Lord.
  • While waiting: (1) Waiting brings us our strength from God. Joshua 1:9 says "Be strong and of a good courage."; (2) Waiting brings us peace. Psalm 46:10 says "Be still and know that I am God."  And from John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.; (3) Waiting brings help from God when we seem to be unstable. Find time to pray to God. We need to become settled in our faith; & (4) Waiting brings our submission to all Mighty God. Luke 22:42 says "Nevertheless, not my will but thine will be done." June 19, 2022 - Happy Father's Day

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Luke 15:22 - But the father said to his slaves. "Hurry! Bring the best robe, and put it on him! Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet!

Subject: A Father's Love

  • Three Points
  1. The actions of one son
  2. The reaction of the older son
  3. The interaction of the father
  • Luke 15:11-15 - 11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
  • The youngest son wanted his portion right now.
  • He was impatient and foolish.
  • His decision was hasty and unwise.
  • He was not a good steward of his portion.
  • Are we now, wasting our portion?
  • The son finally remembered who he was and whose he was.
  • This son found his humility.
  • The older brother was not happy that the younger son was being welcomed back.
  • The elder son had remained with his father and served well with the land.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:3 - Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.
  • The older didn't realize that a lost soul, his brother, was coming home. He didn't want to be glad about that fact and be thankful.
  • He was angry and wouldn't participate in the celebration of his brother's return.
  • The older brother had a 'what about me' mentality. He was jealous and envious which are not good traits.
  • Verse 20 - So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way from home his father saw him, and his heart went out to him; he ran and hugged his son and kissed him.
  • The father was very happy to see his youngest son coming home.
  • The father could see that the son was not well but saw the humility in his eyes.
  • The father welcomed his son back into the family.
  • The robe, ring and sandals said to the son that he was in good standing with the family and not feel as though he were a servant.
  • No matter how far we stray, Jesus is always tenderly calling to us.

Welcome From Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Psalm 27:1-6The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

Subject: Trusting In God In Our Times Of Trial

  • We are going to have anxiousness and are looking for some source of security.
  • We can look for that security in money, business or other things.
  • The answer is the Lord is my light & my salvation; whom shall I fear?!
  • We must have a personal and right relationship with God.
  • Lots of times we find ourselves in darkness but the Lord is our light. And he is our strong deliverer. (Salvation)
  • So whom should we fear?
  • Proverbs 18:10 - The name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.
  • Romans 8:31 - What then shall we say about these things?  If God is for us, who can b against us?
  • Press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
  • Dwell in the house of the Lord forever; Meditate on the Word of God
  • We must study to show ourselves approved.  2 Timothy 2:15
  • Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of virtue, and praise... think on these things.  Philippians 4:8

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: 2 Kings 4:1-7The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

Subject: Making Something Out Of Nothing

  • This woman was between a rock and a hard place.
  • Her husband had been a godly man but unwise in his choices.
  • The creditors came to enslave her sons for the husband's debts.
  • Two questions were asked: (1) How can I help you, woman? asked Elisha. (2) What do you have in your house, woman?
  • Elisha is inviting the woman to take part in her own miracle.
  • As we know faith without works is dead. James 2:26
  • The woman couldn't get her husband back from death but she still had time to save her sons.
  • There is something, always, in the midst of our nothingness that God can use.
  • We need to ask for help from like minded individuals.
  • Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil... Psalm 23:4
  • So God has his part to do but we also have our part to do.

Scripture: Jeremiah 8:22 - There is still medicinal ointment available in Gilead! There is still a physician there!  Why then have my dear people not been restored to health?

Subject: Is There No Balm in America

  • 2 Timothy 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
  • There is lawlessness in our world today.
  • In olden day a balm was used to heal wounds and ailments.
  • Why was Gilead so important?  There is a balm in Gilead, to make the wounded whole. There is a balm in Gilead, to heal the sin-sick soul.”
  • Being a Christian does not mean that we will not suffer or be mistreated.
  • Any nation that does not obey God's word and repent, there will be a day of judgment.
  • What is the cure for all the lawlessness? There is only one answer - Jesus!
  • Jesus saves!
  • Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice, offered his body for our sins.
  • Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 23: 19 - He posted guards at the gates of the Lord's temple, so no one who was ceremonially unclean in any way could enter.

Subject: Gates & Gate Keepers

  • What is a gate keeper? It could be described at a fence or a boundary.
  • In order to enter you would need a gate or an opening to enter or exit.
  • A gate could be a point of control, a command center.
  • The gates are mentioned many times in the bible.
  • Psalm 100:4 - Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give him thanks! Praise his name!
  • Matthew 16:18 - And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.
  • Several types of gates: personal gates (don't allow anything to come between you and God); family gates (take a stand to lead our family to God); church gate (we must guard against Satan in the church); community gate (communities must pull together to stand against Satan); & national gates (nations must stand firm against the Prince of Darkness).
  • GIGO = garbage in, garbage out. Don't allow yourself to get sucked into all the garbage in the world.
  • We need gate keepers and watchmen.
  • Gate keepers & watchmen are to rightly discerning what going in or goes out.
  • We must me hearers and doers of the Word.
  • Prayer is all important in our spiritual warfare.
  • Are you willing to be a gate keeper?
  • 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 - Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.
  • Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Mark 4:35-41 -And the same day, when the evening was come, he said to them, "Let us pass over unto the other side.  And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.  And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.  And he was in the stern part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awaken him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  And he said unto them, "Why are you so fearful?  How is it that you have no faith?: And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

Subject: Dealing With The Storms of Life

  • How we deal with the storms of life
  • The storms of life are going to come whether spiritual or physical but we should have faith in Jesus.
  • Recognize that the storms happen for (1) a test (2) a trial or (3) a temptation
  • It is also a victory for Almighty God if we stay focus on Him.
  • Don't lose focus on Jesus as Satan would want us to.
  • Don't forget to remember...to have faith in Jesus
  • A storm will gather and linger but Jesus is with us and the storm will pass.
  • Jesus will always remain with us.
  • God is Omniscient, Onmipotent & Omnipresent
  • And we know that Jesus is Emmanuel - God with us!

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Isaiah 60:1-4 - Arise! Shine! For your light arrives! The splendor of the Lord shines on you! For, look, darkness covers the earth and deep darkness covers the nations, but the Lord shines on you; his splendor appears over you. Nations come to your light, kings to your bright light.  Look all around you! They all gather and come to you - your sons come from far away and your daughters are escorted by guardians.

Subject: Arise And Shine

  • Rise and shine can mean a change.
  • Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know what I have planned for you, 'says the Lord. 'I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.
  • No matter how or what our situation is, God can make everything alright, by His will and if we believe.
  • Why arise? 1. It is a word from God. Psalm 19:7 - The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the  soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 2. This precept of arising is of God. If God said it, He is able to perform it. 3. The Lord is our light. Jesus said that as long as He is in the world, there is light. 4. Only the living can rise and shine. Only the living can praise God.
  • How are we to rise & shine? 1. Be connected to Christ. 2. Consume the Word of God. Jeremiah 15:16 - Thy word were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts. 3. We must submit to the Word of God. James 2:14 Faith without works is dead.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:1-5 - Now I, Paul appeal to you personally by the meekness and gentleness of Christ (I who am meek when present among you, but am full of courage toward you when away!) now I ask that when I am present I may not have to be bold with the confidence that (I expect) I will dare to use against some who consider us to be behaving according to human standards.  For though we live as human beings, we do not wage war according to human standards, for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.

Subject: Living In The Land of Giants

  • For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Ephesians 6:12
  • John 15:18 - if the world hates you it hated me first.
  • We are not to hide in a tent like Saul did, but meet trouble head on as David did.
  • Take the battle to the enemy.
  • God has called us to pull down strongholds.
  • Deceptive things in this day and time: The Big Lie; The Conspiracy Theory
  • Against the knowledge and power of God is unacceptable.
  • We must arm ourselves with the proper weapons: Our weapons are not of this world
  • We must fight God's battle God's way.
  • We come with the Word of God.
  • Read 1 Samuel 17:45-46 -

45But David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand. This day I will strike you down, cut off your head, and give the carcasses of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the creatures of the earth. Then the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.…

January 2, 2022 Happy New Year

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Psalm 1:1-3 - Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, not stands in the way of sinners, not sits in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law does he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rives of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper.

Subject: A New Year's Resolution or Revelation

  •  Many folks make a new year's resolutions.
  • Are we God centered or self centered?
  • We should as God for a revelation because it's not our will but God's will.
  • God's plan and purpose for our lives = revelation
  • His plan will guide up in all things throughout our lives.
  • We are bless with certain conditions.
  • We have to be careful about the company that we keep.
  • Three types of people = the ungodly ( those who knowingly sin); the sinners ( those who are sinning with little hope) ; the scornful ( those who sin & encourage others to join in with then).
  • We should saturate ourselves in the Word. Pray, meditate & study the Word.
  • The Word of God is our spiritual life support.
  • God's divine supply is like a tree planted by rivers of water, so that we, Christians will be rooted deeply in the Word.

Happy Holidays from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Psalm 23 - The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his name's sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Subject: Dealing With Stress: Are We Blessed or Stressed

  • David was stressed, running from several things.
  • Stress comes through anger, guilt, dishonesty, etc.
  • We need to identify the negative stress: Uncertainty (medical, relationships, finances); Fear; Life changing events (death, birth, marriage); Anger (disagreements); Sin in our lives
  • We need to acknowledge that we have stress.
  • We need to have a humble spirit
  • Learn to manage finances, expectations (remember to be righteous and holy in all things).
  • Uncertainty can lead to arrogance, foolishness & a lack of trust in God.
  • Living in fear is contrary to the will of God.
  • Stay near the cross and pray to God daily through Jesus.
  • There is nothing to hard for our God.
  • If God be with us, he is more than the world against us.  Romans 8:31
