Happy Holidays from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant
Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton
Scripture: Psalm 23 - The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Subject: Dealing With Stress: Are We Blessed or Stressed
- David was stressed, running from several things.
- Stress comes through anger, guilt, dishonesty, etc.
- We need to identify the negative stress: Uncertainty (medical, relationships, finances); Fear; Life changing events (death, birth, marriage); Anger (disagreements); Sin in our lives
- We need to acknowledge that we have stress.
- We need to have a humble spirit
- Learn to manage finances, expectations (remember to be righteous and holy in all things).
- Uncertainty can lead to arrogance, foolishness & a lack of trust in God.
- Living in fear is contrary to the will of God.
- Stay near the cross and pray to God daily through Jesus.
- There is nothing to hard for our God.
- If God be with us, he is more than the world against us. Romans 8:31
