Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant and Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Genesis 37:23,24,27, &28 - When Joseph reached his brothers, they stripped him of his tunic, the special tunic that he wore.  Then they took him and threw him into the cistern.  Come, let's sell him to the Ishmaelites, but let's not lay a hand on him, for after all, he is our brother, our own flesh.  His brothers agreed.  So when the Midianite merchants passed by, Joseph's brothers pulled him out of the cistern and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver.  The Ishmaelites then took Joseph to Egypt.

Subject: Walking In Dark Valleys

  • Joseph was his father's favorite.
  • Joseph was a dreamer.
  • His brothers disliked him and plotted to, sold him into slavery.
  • But Joseph held onto his faith.
  • His master observed that the Lord was with Joseph and that the Lord made everything Joseph was doing a success.  Genesis 39:3
  • In all the difficulties Joseph went through, he kept is faith in the Lord.
  • We as Christians are sealed in Holy Spirit.  Ephesians 1:13
  • Romans 8:35-39 - Who will separate us form the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  No, in all these things we have completed victory through him who loved us!  For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
