Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Exodus 14:10-14 - And when Pharaoh came near, the children of Israel, lifting up their eyes, saw the Egyptians coming after them, and were full of fear; and their cry went up to God.  And they said to Moses, Whas there no resting-place for the dead in Egypt, that you have taken us away to come to our death in the waste land? why have you taken us out of Egypt? Did we not say to you in Egypt, Let us be as we are, working for the Egyptians? for it is better to be the servants of the Egyptians that to come to our death in the waste land.  But Moses said, Keep where you are and have no fear; now you will see today you will never see again.  The Lord will make war for you, you have only to keep quiet.

Subject: Learning to be Still

  • We must be still and know that God is God. Psalm 46:10
  • In these times we wonder is there a way out?
  • We need to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
  • We should be conforming to God's plan for us.
  • Romans 12:3 - Don't think too highly of yourself, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of us.
  • God's ways are not our ways.  Isaish 55:8-9
  • Isaiah 46:10 - God knows the end from the beginning.
  • They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
  • Matthew 11:29 - Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
  • Romans 8:31 - If God be for us, who can stand against us.
  • On the other side of midnight, there is peace that passes all understanding; there is joy; there is eternity!
  • So let us fix our eyes on Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2
Invitation to Christian Discipleship - Romans 10:9

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Exodus 14:8 & 13 - And the Lord Hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. But Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever.

Subject: How To Cross Your Red Sea

  • God has a divine intervention for us.
  • If God's will is not heeded there will be consequences.
  • With God, we have to fear nothing.
  • Moses believed what God said. And God had a plan for His people.
  • When we face our Red Sea moments, let's not want to go back to "Egypt!"
  • We must seek God always.
  • Moses didn't allow his fear to control his faith.
  • We should always stand still and know that He is God. Psalm 46:10
  • They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
  • Moses acted on what God told him to do.
  • We must go forward in our service to the Lord.
  • The battle is not ours; it is the Lord's.

May 12, 2019 - Mother's Day

Sunday School
Titus 1:1-7
Paul commissioned Titus to show how the good news of Jesus and the power of the Spirit can transform Cretan people from within.
  • Paul has left Titus in Crete to set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city.
  • Titus was an early Christian missionary and church leader.
  • God's elect are "us" - Jews & Gentiles (Christians)
  • We operate under sound doctrine; the truth
  • God didn't just throw a plan together on the spur of the moment. It was planned out before the beginning of time.
  • Eternal life in v2 is explained in 1 John 2:17 - And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.
  • Appointed season in v3 is explained in Acts 1:7 - He told them, "You are not permitted to know the time or periods that the Father has set by His own authority.
  • God our Savior in v3 is explained in 1 Timothy 1:1 - From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope ...
  • An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and  are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. This means that the man should not be self-willed seeking gratification for his own personal gains regardless of others; he should not be easily provoked or become hasty with his words; he should not be a drunkard or a brawler.

Sermon
Exodus 1:22; 2:9 - The Pharaoh commanded all his people, 'All sons that are born you must throw into the river, but all daughters you may let live." Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Take this child and nurse him for me, and I will pay your wages." So the woman took the child and nursed him.
Topic: The Big Payback
  • Moses was a Hebrew child
  • Pharaoh commanded all males to be thrown into the Nile river
  • Pharaoh wanted to wipe out the Hebrew race as Satan wanted to eradicate the line of Jesus.
  • But "love" foiled Pharaoh's plan
  • The same Nile that was to kill Moses delivered him.
  • Pharaoh meant to do evil but God turned in into good
  • Moses had a spiritual foundation taught to him by his mother.
  • I recall your sincere faith that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am sure is in you. Because of this I remind you to rekindle God's gift that you possess through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:5-7

 Happy Mother's Day
