December 14, 2014 - Christmas Luncheon

Sunday School
1 Peter 3:1-22


  • Wives, be submissive to your husbands. This submission isn't a reward for the men. No, it is God's commandment as the proper order for the home.
  • As Jesus was submissive to His parents - Luke 2:51
  • As demons submitted to the disciples - Luke 10:17
  • As the church should submit to Jesus - Ephesians 5:24
  • As servants should submit to their masters - Titus 2:9 and 1 Peter 2:18
  • Husbands are to be understanding, giving honor to their wives. A godly husband strives to not merely share a house but truly live with his wife. He should truly love and cherish her as he does himself.
  • They are heirs together.
  • Godliness in suffering as Christ did.
  • Finally, be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

Philippians 4:10-11 - v10 But I rejoice in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein you were also careful, but you lacked opportunity. v11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Subject: "When You Can't Seem To Get "No" Satisfaction" 


  • Wickedness all around us from the government to the state-house!!
  • Competing  on television for stardom and money
  • Philippians 4:12 - I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
  • We cannot receive contentment from the world but from Christ Jesus.
  • Contentment comes from: Knowing that for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life......John 3:16: God supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.....Philippians 4:19: And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.......Romans 8:28
  • And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.....John 1:14

October 12, 2014 - Homecoming

Sunday School
James 4:1-17
Drawing Close To God

  • We are to obey God
  • We are to be humble to God, for God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.
  • Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
  • Speak no evil to one another.
  • Do not become boastful in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
  • Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.


Morning Sermon

  • John 15:5 - I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in the Me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit: for apart from Me you can do nothing.
  • We have God's approval when He have us salvation.
  • Be sure that your anchor holds on a solid foundation. (Jesus)
  • 2 Corinthians 12:9-11 - But He said to me, "My grace is enough for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me. v10 Therefore I am content with weaknesses, with insults, with troubles, with persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong. v11 I have become a fool. You yourselves forced me to do it, for I should have been commended by you. For I lack nothing in comparison to those "super-apostles," even though I am nothing.
  • Isaiah 40:29-31 - He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, He gives renewed energy. v30 Even youths get tired and weary' even strong young men clumsily stumble. v31 But those who wait for the Lord's help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles' wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.
  • Surrender your life to Him.
  • Depend on Him in all things because only God has the power to bring all things back to Him.
  • God loves us.
  • Matthew 11:28-30 - Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. v29 Take my yoke on you and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. v30 For My yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry." 


Homecoming Service

Welcome
Pulpit occupants, homercomers, visitors and Christian friends.
The Brown Chapel Church Family along with Pastor Baggett and his wife welcomes each and every one to our annual homecoming service. It brings great joy to see you once again as we celebrate this homecoming. 
Let us rejoice in our spirits, laugh and fellowship with one another, reflect with fond memories of our loved one who have passed away.
So let us lift our voices in praise to God!

For the battle is the Lord's and He will deliver you into our hand."

October 14, 2012 - A Homecoming Celebration

Greetings from the Pastor and Brown Chapel Family.  We are happy to share the occasion of our 56th Annual Homecoming day with you.

Sunday School
Who We Are In Christ (continued)
Psalm 139:1-4 - God knows our every thought even before we speak it.
Colossians 2:13-14 - Before Christ,m we were dead because of sin. Then God made us alive by giving us His Son and through the blood of Christ we are delivered. God forgave all our sins and canceled the record.
John 1:12-13 But to all who believed in Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God.
Galatians 4:6-7 - We Gentiles are adopted children with guarantee of all rights.
1 Samuel 16:7 - Don't judge by the appearance or height, for I have rejected him (Eliab).
God looks at the heart.

Thought for Today:
Are you married to Christ or just dating on Sundays?

Morning Sermon
Luke 18:1-5
Subject: Being Persistent in Prayer

The widow, instead of worrying, prayed and took action and didn't give up.
 Worry is a sin and fills up the mind with defeat.
Worry is the opposite of faith. It's like a rocking chair. You are in motion but getting nowhere.
Constant prayer works for the Christian. Jesus is our refuge.
Psalm 56:16-17 - David cried out constantly.
Hanna Prayed and prayed for a child (Samuel)
Pray and never doubt
James 1:5-6
Prayer is spiritual maintenance.
Isaiah 40:20-31

The Welcome and Occasion

It is my pleasure and certainly an honor to welcome you on behalf of our Pastor, rev. James Baggett and his family and our Brown Chapel church family to this house of God, its comfort and peace.
We greatly appreciate your presence and support on this 56th Annual Homecoming occasion.
Let us all together exalt, extol and magnify the name of our Father and our God.

Occasion
Pulpit occupants, Homercomers, Visitors and Christian Friends:
In preparing for the traditional Occasion speech, I pondered for several day on what to say for this 2012 Homecoming and asked God for guidance.  And as we all know, God never fails us.
Homecoming and home-going scrambled around in my mind as I was shopping the other day. Homecoming is of course, for the church, a gathering of family, friends and all the communities; the sharing of warm memories and laughter.
Home-going is our anticipation of going to our reward through acceptance, obedience and faith in God.
I found myself int he electronics isle and picked up a pair of earplugs and was immediately struck with an idea for the Occasion.
"Sealed"
How many of us have purchased something in that similar packaging, got it home and with great difficulty, removed the object we'd purchased? This covering is nearly impenetrable without scissors.
Then I thought of God's seal on us which cannot be removed my anything man-made.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.  The anointed us set His seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."
So we are sealed with he Holy Spirit, covered with the Whole Armor of God spreading the Good news as we await or home-going.
Keep that in your hearts and minds today and always. We are sealed!
