Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2 - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us; Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Subject: Celebrating Our History
- Our history is not just remembering dates and faces but the running of our faith race.
- Our black churches were based on hope to the glory of God.
- We worship even in the face of oppression.
- We have faith in The Almighty God.
- We do not forget the struggle.
- We should keep fighting wrongdoing and not become like our oppressors.
- What are we to do now in these modern times?
- We must look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.
- Jesus sustains us. He remains the same yesterday, today and evermore.
- There is power in the name of Jesus!
