Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: John 9:35-41 - 35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, Do you believe in the Son of Man?”

36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”

37 Jesus said, You have now seen himin facthe is the one speaking with you.”

38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.

39 Jesus said, For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”

40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”

41 Jesus said, If you were blindyou would not be guilty of sinbut now that you claim you can seeyour guilt remains.

Subject: When You're Blind, You Just Can't See

  • When we think of blind-spots, we think of a driving situation.
  • The Pharisees were not happy that Jesus had just preformed a miracle by healing a blind man.
  • The Pharisees revealed themselves as ignorant and were saying that Jesus was not God in the flesh.
  • Do we have a spiritual blind-spot when it comes to God?
  • We complain about many things even though we are blessed with so many things.
  • Blind spots:
  • 1 Corinthians 13:1 - Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
  • Matthew 14:28-31 - And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be you, bid me come unto you on the water. And Jesus said, Come. And when Peter was coming down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and began to sink. He cried out saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand and caught Peter saying, O thou of little faith, wherefore did you doubt?
  • When we sometimes try to deal with the things of God and discourage others in our fumblings to understand others, this might be our blind-spot.
  • There are social blind-spot in this world which we have to navigate each and every day.
  • Spiritual blind-spots - to Jesus's deity or blind to the truth.
  • 1 John 1:8-10 - If we say that we have no sin, we are false to ourselves and there is nothing true in us. If we say openly that we have done wrong, he is upright and true to his word, giving us forgiveness of sins and making us clean from all evil. If we say that we have no sin, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.
