Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

Subject: The Awesome Love of God

  • May the force be with you, a line from Star Wars. But let us look at the word "force."
  • Force the interaction of two objects. To Christians it is the interaction between God and his children.....us.
  • Faith is a part of this interaction. Hope in Christ is another part.
  • Beyond these are the power of LOVE.
  • 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 - If I make use of the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am like sounding brass, or a loud-tongued bell.  And if I have prophet's power and have knowledge of all secret things; and if I have all faith, by which mountains may be moved from their place, but have not love, I am nothing.  And if I give all my goods to the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it is of no profit to me.
  • God's love is agape love.
  • God put into action his love by giving us his Son.
  • Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:7
  • As Christians, we will face trials. We must be prepared.
  • We must look out for one another and be prepared to help one another. We must love one another.
  • Without love those who are yet lost cannot move into God's marvelous light.
  • 1 John 4:20 - If a many says, I have love for God, and has hate for his brother, his words are false: for how is the man who has no love for his brother whom he has seen, able to have love for God whom he has not see?
  • Matthew 5:44 - But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
  • It wasn't the nails that held Jesus to the cross but LOVE for use.
  • Greater love hath no man that this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
  • We must pray without ceasing.
