Sunday School Discussion - Brief  -  The Birth of Christ

Isaiah 9:6  "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulders; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Psalm 119:130  "The entrance of Your Word gives light."

The virgin Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel, who told of her coming conception and the bearing of a child to be called Jesus.  Mary was troubled but Gabriel assured her and spoke of the Hold Spirit who would come upon her..."nothing will be impossible with God."  Mary, having courage spoke, "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to His Word.
It is not stated in the Bible, the actual time frame of the birth of Jesus but the facts of Jesus being born in a stable like dwelling; wise men visiting bearing gifts; King Herod fear and hatred of Jesus; and Jesus became the Word in the flesh.

Revelation 3:20 - "Look!  Here I stand at the door and knock.  If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in and we will share a meal as friends."

When we begin to feel that we are self sufficient, don't need any one's assistance....we tend to forget what God has done for us.....believing that we did it ourselves.
We should give God total praise.
Is our spirituality of no benefit......being lukewarm?
Are we indifferent to our surroundings and others?
Are we listening to the Holy Spirit?
Will we be invited to sit with the victorious?
Remember Jesus knows all our deeds.......yet He waits for us to receive Him into our hearts.
