Welcome to Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Acts 8:18-23 - And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, saying, 'Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.  But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.  Thou hast neither part not lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.  Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.  For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Subject: A Church That Cannot Be Bought

  • Do we have a poor understanding of the Holy Ghost? Do we think that money can buy us anything we want?
  • Do we have the mind of Simon? Money!
  • Transaction is not the way of God nor money can tempt Him.
  • Christians cannot be bought.
  • Don't allow money to persuade you to sin.
  • The Holy Ghost is not for sale.
  • Our heart is required by God.
  • Don't let influence mess up your integrity.
  • Psalm 51:17 - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.
  • We, as Christians cannot be bought because we know that Jesus paid it all....all to him we owe!
