Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: John 1:1-5, 14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (v14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Subject: Getting the Christmas Story Right

  • Jesus is the Word of God.
  • Jesus is God in the flesh.
  • Do we really understand the meaning of God becoming flesh and walking among us.
  • The power, presence and prompting of the Holy Spirit is with us now.
  • Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus
  • Colossians 1:19-20 - For God in full measure was pleased to be in him; Through him uniting all things with himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, I say, uniting all things which are on earth or in heaven.
  • Hebrews 4:14-16 - Having then a great high priest, who has made his way through the heavens, even Jesus the Son of God, let us be strong in our faith.  For we have not a high priest who is not able to be touched by the feelings of our faith.  For we have not a high priest who is not able to be touched by the feelings of our feeble flesh; but we have one who has been tested in all points as we ourselves are tested, but without sin.  Then let us come near to the seat of grace without fear, so that mercy may be given to us, and we may get grace for our help in time of need.
