Welcome from Brown Chapel
Prayer: Pastor Baggett
Scripture: Luke 15:11-16 - A certain man had two sons: and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that fall to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him not his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
Subject: There's No Place Like Home
- Where is home for us?
- We know the story of the son who left home with his inheritance, because he wanted to get away from home.
- Are we sometimes fed up with our old lives; curious about the outside world; just wanting to get away from our parents; etc.
- What we may not understand is that the world is or can be a wicked place while also being an exciting and enticing place.
- The longer one is out in the world, you tend to get caught up in all the excitement.
- Sin is like quicksand. The more you struggle against it the more you sink into it.
- Home is where our memories are, our foundation, our hope of a better life.
- Revelation 3:20 - Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
- Jesus is the only one who can forgive your sins.
- Jesus is the way, the truth and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me. John 14:6
- In my father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2
- There is our earthly home but more importantly, there is our heavenly home.
