 Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant,

Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Numbers 13:1-3 & verses 30-32 & Numbers 14:9 - And the Lord said to Moses, "Send men to get knowledge about the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; from every tribe of their fathers you are to send a man, everyone a chief among them.  And Moses sent them from the waste land of Paran as the Lord gave orders, all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel. Verses 30-32 - Then Caleb made signs to the people to keep quiet, and said to Moses, "Let us go up straight away and take this land; for we are well able to overcome it.  But the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.  And they gave the children of Israel a bad account of the land they had been to see, saying, "This land through which we went is a land causing destruction to those living in it; and all the people we saw there are men of more than common size. Numbers 4:9 - Only, do not go against the Lord or go in fear of the people of the land, for they will be our food; their strength has been taken from them and the Lord is with us: have no fear of them.

Subject: Choosing Faith Over Fear - Overcoming the Giants in the Land

  • It is sometimes easy to be overcome with fear.
  • Fear magnifies our problems and minimizes our faith.
  • The promises of God are steadfast & mighty.
  • So, what are we focusing on?
  • Jesus said that in this world you will have trouble but I, Jesus, have overcome the world.
  • Trust in the promises of God will strengthen our faith.
  • We must hold on to God's promises.
  • All things work together for the good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28
  • God tells us that we are His own.
  • Faith is a daily walk.
  • Remember that the Lord is with us.
  • Faith is the courage to trust God is the face of fear.
  • The battle is not ours but the Lord's.

Scripture: Numbers 33:50-53 - And in the lowlands of Moab by Jordan at Jericho, the Lord said to Moses, 'Say to the children of Israel, When you go over Jordan into the land of Canaan, See that all the people of the land are forced out from before you, and put to destruction all their pictured stones, and all their metal images, and all their high places: And take the land for yourselves, for your resting-place: for to you I have given the land as your heritage.

Subject: Those Things That Are Worth Fighting For

  • Unto thy seed I will give this land. Genesis 12:7
  • I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
  • We are fighting with faith in this day and age.
  • Our power comes from Jesus Christ.
  • He is the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2
  • We must resist the Devil and he will flee from us.
  • The battle is not our but the Lord's. 2 Chronicles 20:15
  • If God be for us, He is more than the world against us. Romans 8:31
  • For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12
  • We must hold on the God's unchanging hand.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Numbers 14:1-4 - And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, 'Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!  And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?  And they said one to another, 'Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.'

Subject: Are You Sure You Want To Go Back?

  • For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.  2 Timothy 1:7
  • I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13
  • The Call; The Commitment; The Courage
  • God has a plan for us which is salvation - the call
  • Commitment is the dedicated choice.
  • We must commit ourselves to Christ.
  • If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14
  • We need to have courage to..... Philippians 3:14 - I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
  • Finally remember, the battle is not ours but God's.
  • And also remember, the victory is already won. 1 John 4:4 - But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
