Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Joshua 6:2-3 & 20 - The Lord told Joshua, "See, I am about to defeat Jericho for you, along with it king and its warriors.  Have all the warriors march around the city one time; do this for six days; The ram's horn sounded and when the army heard the signal, they gave a loud battle cry.  The wall collapsed and the warriors charged straight ahead into the city and captured it.

Subject: Living Decisively

  • In this day and time, we are so divided.
  • But we need to be living in the Word of God.
  • Whatever God did back then, He is still doing today.
  • Joshua heard God's directive and obeyed Him.
  • We must hear what God is saying.
  • Faith come by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  Romans 10:17
  • Be still and know that I am God.  Psalm 46:10
  • We must study God's Word, meditate, prayerful & walk in the Word.
  • Joshua faced 3 stumbling blocks: (1) He could have questioned God's directive - possibly tried to help God out; (2) He could have felt pressure to explain God's plan to his men; and (3) He could have the fear of failure - what if this doesn't work?
  • But Joshua obeyed God!!

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh and Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Joshua 24:14-15 - Now obey the Lord and worship him with integrity and loyalty. Put aside the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates and in Egypt and worship the Lord.  If you have no desire to worship the Lord, choose today whom you will worship, whether it be the gods whom your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living.  But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Subject: Defining Moments

  • Life is made up of many experiences, good and bad. We reflect on those snap-shots. Those defining moments. A time that show clearly what something is about.
  • Example: September 11, 2001 was a defining moment.
  • Joshua was the leader after Moses.
  • Joshua challenged Isreal to serve a living God.
  • Choose, this day, who you will serve.!
  • We need to consider what our defining moments.
  • We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14
  • John 14:1-3 - Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
