Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Ephesians 5:1-2 & 6-7 - Let it then be your desire to be like God, as well-loved children; And be living in love, even as Christ had love for you, and gave himself up for us, as offering to God for a perfume of a sweet smell.

Do not be turned from the right way by foolish words; for because of these things the punishment of God comes on those who do not put themselves under him.  Have no part with such men.

Subject: Who Do You Want to Be Like?

  • Don't be an imitation, not original.
  • But we should be an imitator of God.
  • Eleven times is the word imitator or imitation mentioned in the New Testament.
  • Who is the role model in our lives? It should be Jesus.
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7 - And you took us and the Lord as your example, after the word had come to you in much trouble, with joy in the Holy Spirit. So that you became an example to all those who have faith in Christ in Macedonia and Achaia.
  • 1 Corinthians 11:1 - So take me for your example, even as I take Christ for mine.
  • Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
  • Matthew 5:45 - So that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for his sun gives light to the evil and to the good, and he sends rain on the upright man and on the sinner.
  • We must be kind and compassionate to one another as Christ was to us.
  • We must be role models for others in Christ. Living examples of Jesus Christ.
  • We must have self-control.

Bible Topic: The Whole Armor of God - Ephesians 6:10-20

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Last Sunday we paused to celebrate the home-going of Mrs. Annie Ruth Cunningham, a life long member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-6 - I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation where-with ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Subject: How To Deal With Adversity - Most Gross
  • We need to walk worthy of God.
  • We should be living examples of Jesus Christ.
  • Have a lowly spirit to lift up other.
  • Have a gentle spirit which allows us to submit to whatever God would have us to do.
  • Bare with one another with love.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Ephesians 2:4-8 - But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you are saved! - and he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.  For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Subject: Saved by Grace

  • We are born as 'dead men/women' walk in search of something better.
  • We seek God but choose to rebel over and over and over, against Him.
  • We can't free ourselves from sin....only Jesus can through God's grace.
  • But God, by grace, has the solution.
  • For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should have everlasting life.  John 3:16
  • If I be lifted up, I will draw all men to me. John 12:32
  • The moment of salvation we are freed the bondage of sin.
  • We need to listen for that still, quiet voice.
  • Amazing grace how sweet the sound.

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Ephesians 4:14-15 - So we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.  But practicing the truth in love, we will in all things grown up into Christ, who is the head.

Subject: There's A Grown-up In The Room

  • Please read Ephesians 4:1-13 at your leisure.
  • Grace - to extend kindness or forgiveness.
  • We don't deserve His grace but He gave it.
  • We should extend grace to others.
  • We should rely on the Word of God & get our strength from the Almighty.
  • We should be a living testimony to God's grace.
  • Obedience is better than sacrifice.
  • We as Christians grow from milk to meat.
  • We should grow in Christ everyday, grow in wisdom as well.
  • Glorify God and be a blessing to others.
