Welcome to Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Psalms 51:10-12 - Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Subject: Restoration of Joy

  • David is feeling regret for what he has done.

  • Nathan has confronted him with his transgressions.

  • You should as the Lord to restore us when we wonder away from God.

  • We can lose our joy without losing God as we walk through this life.

  • We can get drained from making bad decisions, developing poor habits, loads of heavy responsibilities piled upon our shoulders.

  • But we are not beyond God's restoration.

  • Joy is deeper than happiness. Happiness is when things are going your way but fades easily.  Joy depends on who is holding us up even in times of trouble.  Joy endures trials and suffering and rooted in our "right" relationship with God.

  • The world can take everything away from us, but God makes a way through his amazing grace. He brings us joy. He restores us within ourselves.

  • External changes are not enough because God looks on the heart. When your heart is changed, your soul is lighter even when our circumstances stay the same. This joy is knowing that God is always with us and that we are loved greatly by God.
