Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant
Prayer: Rev. Pelton
Scripture: Matthew 15:21-28 - 21 Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”23 But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Subject: A Faith Filled Mother
- Mothers are very often wise and shared their wisdom with their children.
- Mothers are the foundation of the home when raising the children.
- Mary, Sarah, Hanna, Rachael, etc. all, powerful mothers.
- Lessons from Matthew 15: (1) We see a mother's love for her child. The bible says we should seek Jesus while He may be found. Isaiah 55:6
- This mother asked for mercy from Jesus. She saw that Jesus was the Messiah.
- We see that love that is a very powerful weapon.
- Love is at the center of our new life in Jesus Christ. The love of Christ paved the way for our salvation.
- For God so loved the world that He gave is only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
- (2) This mother was persistent.
- We must be persistent in having an intimate relationship with God through Jesus.
- (3) This mother had humility. She falls in the face of Jesus.
- This mother saw that even the crumbs from Jesus can do what no other power can do.
- We must humble ourselves; surrender our pride.
- All to Jesus we surrender.
- (4) This mother had faith that Jesus could save her child. Jesus answered her request to save the child. Her faith in Jesus caused His compassion to her.
- Hebrews 4:16 - Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.
