Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: John 20:24-29 - Now Thomas, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!"  But he replied, "Unless I see the wounds from the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds from the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it!" Eight days later the disciples were again together in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" The he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and examine my hands. Extend your hand and put it into my side. Do not continue in your unbelief, but believe." Thomas replied to him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are the people who have not seen and yet have believed."

Subject: And Now What?!

  • The trial of Jesus was over; his death and resurrection was over; the search for his body was over; so now what?
  • John 11:1-16 (Read Thomas in verse 16 who thought he might die with Jesus)
  • Mark 8:35-36 - For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and for the gospel will save it.
  • John 14:1-6 -  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

  • As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.  Joshua 24:15
