Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant and Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Romans 8:35-39 -Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  As it is written, "For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered."  No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us! For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Subject: What Can Separate Us From The Love Of God?

  • We as people have dealt with separation in our lives.
  • As a child might get separated from his/her parent at an event....that anxiety would be overwhelming.
  • Sin separates us from God.
  • We tend to drift away from God instead of draw nearer to Him.
  • When God seems far away.....guess who moved?  YOU!
  • Genesis 3 Eve and the serpent.....the serpent convinced her that nothing would happen if she were to eat from the Tree of Knowledge.
  • The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23
  • 3 kinds of death: physical death; spiritual death; & eternal death.
  • God sent His Son to redeem us.
  • The love of God is something we can always believe and hold on to.
  • O give thank unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endures forever.  Psalm 107
