2 John & 3 John

  • The Lady and her children are the church and its members.
  • The elder was a position of authority.
  • Grace, mercy and peace are with us through God the Father.
  • Love one another is spoken and urged throughout 2 John.
  • Love means doing what God had commanded us to do.
  • The love of God constrains us.
  • Many or deceivers. We are to be on guard.
  • The church is not a voluntary organization but a fellowship of those called together by Christ.
  • John wants us to prosper in health and spiritually.
  • We are fellow workers in the truth.
  • Do not imitate evil but do imitate good.
  • Continue to extend hospitality to those who teach the truth.
  • God's Word stands on its own.

Sermon
Psalm 103:19-22 - v19 - The Lord has made the heavens His throne; from there He rules over everything. v20 - Praise the Lord, you angels of His, you mighty creatures who carry pout His plans, listening for each of His commands. v21 - Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve Him and do His will! v22 - Praise the Lord, everything He has created, everywhere in His kingdom. As for me - I, too, will praise the Lord.

Subject: "God Is Still In Control"

  • v1 - Praise the Lord, I tell myself; with my whole heart, I will praise His Holy name.
  • Knowing that God is in control, we have confidence.
  • God is completely sovereign. God has complete control over the universe.
  • God is aware of all. He is Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent! (Read Psalm 139)
  • Some simply don't understand the word of God.
  • God's love, peace, and mercy endures forever.
  • Even from everlasting to everlasting
  • God holds the future.
  • How do we know that God is in control?  Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth; Psalm 135:6-7 - The Lord does whatever pleases Him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths. He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; He sends lightening with the rain and brings out the wind from His storehouses; Psalm 104:14 - He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate-bringing forth food from the earth.
  • What a mighty God we serve.
  • He makes nations great, and destroys them; He enlarges nations and disperses them. Psalm 12:23
  • What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways.  Psalm 22:28
  • Whosoever will my come.  Deuteronomy 18:19
  • We find comfort in the fact that God is intimately acquainted with us and cares for us.
  • We have the blessed assurance that God wants  only good for us.
  • And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
  • Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I say rejoice! Philippians 4:4
