Two Sundays & Annual Conference Information

August 22, 1010
Sunday School
1 Corinthians 10:1-33   False Idols

Disobedience to God is not tolerated - "Repent"
Run from idolatry
We are one body with God
An idol can be anything so be very careful.....Know the Word of God
Temptation is the tool of the enemy
The mature Christian know that (1 Cor. 10:26) For the earth is the Lord's and everything in it.
(1 Cor. 10:31) Whatever you eat or drink or do, do all to the glory of God.

Sermon Title - Facing the Giants
1 Samuel 17:45-47
David shouted in reply, "You come to me with sward, spear and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord Almighty....the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.  Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head.  And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel!  And everyone will know that the Lord does not need weapons to rescue His people.  It is His battle, not ours.  The Lord will give you to us!"

We know how David slew Goliath, with a smooth stone and his sling but by God's hand. How do you face and slay your giants?

1 Corinthians 11:1-34
Man is responsible to Christ, a woman to her husband and Christ is responsible to God.
Do not concern yourselves with hair (long or short), clothing and others niceties.
The eating and drinking of bread and wine reminds us and announces the death of Christ until His coming again.  Be of one min when partaking of the bread and wine.

Sermon Title - Submitting Ourselves to God
James 4:7-10
So humble yourselves before God.  Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you hypocrites.  Let there be tears for the wrong things you have done.  Let there be sorrow and deep grief.  Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.  When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on Him, He will lift you up and give you honor.

Be a doer of the Word
Suggestions to employ.
1. Submit ourselves to God...giving all praises to God.  Be subject to God and obey Him.  Position ourselves for a blessing.
2.  Resist Satan and he will flee.
3.  Draw near to God....through prayer; communicate with God; reading the Word; meditate; be like-minded with God and repent daily.
4.  Cleanse your heart....restore, renew yourselves by confessions both of what we do and think.
5.  Humble yourself in the sight of God.
