Scripture: Ex 17:1-7 - All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the Lord, and camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. 2 Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?” 3 But the people thirsted there for water, and the people grumbled against Moses and said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?” 4 So Moses cried to the Lord, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.” 5 And the Lord said to Moses, “Pass on before the people, taking with you some of the elders of Israel, and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. 6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7 And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”
Subject: Water from the Rock
Our "rock" is spiritual.
Being in a dry season does not mean that we are still in the will of God.
Stress can come quickly when we are in a dry situation in our lives.
We start to question everything even God.
Health problems, money situations, personal disappointments makes us question everything.
But God said that he would never leave us or forsake us.
Just as God told Moses to use his staff to strike a rock to provide water, He can and will hold us.
God wants us to remember that all of our help comes from Him.
We should never look for someone to blame.
Dry seasons teaches us? God's grace will sustain us; God's grace is bigger than any frustrations; We must hold on to our faith;
Jesus said, Come onto me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
God is teaching us that if we can all just pull together and help one another through our trials and tribulations, each one can be encouraged & lifted up.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
The same God who brought from a rock, He can make a way for you and me.
