Welcome to Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: James 1:2-4 - My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith wors patience.  But Let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Subject: This is Only a Test

  • Trials are unavoidable in our lives.
  • Trials comes to everyone, sinners and Christians alike.
  • Trials test our faith and our attitudes.
  • Let is mind be in you and it is in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5
  • A godly attitude is necessary to redefine us to God's love.
  • Coming through trials are a great testimony to God.
  • Lord help me grow through the trials, should be our prayer to God.
  • Pressure reveal what comfort conceals.
  • Whatever is on the inside of our hearts comes out when trials squeezing our lives uncomfortably.
  • We must be patient as we go through our trials.  Waiting is hard but wait
  • Psalm 40:1-2 - I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.
  • It is the struggle and prayer that makes us stronger.
  • God is a heart fixer and a mind regulator.
  • We must hold on to God's unchanging had.
  • Spiritual maturity moves us closer to God and through trials we achieve greater maturity each time.
  • Don't waste the trials because trials are preparation to the perseverance of our goal to eternal life.
  • Ask God to hold you up, to endure the trials of our lives.
  • Prayer to God through his Son, Jesus the Christ!

April 5, 2026 - Happy Easter

Welcome to Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Happy Easter everyone!

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: James 2:5-7 - Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn't God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren't they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him?  But you dishonor the poor! Isn't it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?  Aren't they the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name you bear?

Subject: Who Is Your Favorite?

  • Doesn't it seem that the rich and famous get all the breaks?
  • The poor are labeled lazy, always down and out.
  • The poor seems to always get judged wrongly.
  • God didn't choose status but the humble man.
  • We need to be careful where we get our information.
  • Jesus came into the world in a lowly manger. He was crucified on the cross. But He rose with all power.
  • Jesus is our savior and our redeemer.
  • Remember to hold onto your faith. Jesus the Christ who humbled himself to wash his disciples' feet.
  • Don't choose image over integrity.
  • Jesus chose the humble to inherit the earth.
  • Jesus paid it all!

 Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh

 & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: James 1:2-6 - My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  And let endurance have its perfect effect, so that you will be perfect and complete, not deficient in anything.  But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him.  But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind.

Subject: Wisdom For The Trials of Life

  • Consider it all joy when we experience hardships.
  • We have all lived with some sort of hardship and trials.
  • We must learn to cope with the trials of life.
  • When rather than if - there will always be trials in our human lives.
  • Various way trials will appear.
  • Where do the trials come from?
  • From ourselves & our bad choices; from other people; from living in a fallen world; of course from Satan; & from God, Himself because is concerned with our maturity and not our happiness. There are certain things that can be learned through hardships which glorifies God.
  • Exam the reason for going through trials...... we must prayerfully consider the source.
  • Without the wisdom of God, it is impossible to understand God's purpose for us.
  • We must ask for wisdom from God.
  • Sharpening our faith by trials.
  • God does not tempt to do evil but he will test our faith. James 1:13
  • Trials come into our lives to purify us. Have we been tried in the fire and come through as pure gold? 1 Peter 1:7
  • Trials come in our lives and we can learn how to respond correctly.
  • We must be persuaded that God is in control of the timing & the intensity of the trial
  • God has a specific purpose and goal in our lives.
  • We must acknowledge that God wants his will done.
  • God will walk with us when we've going through the storms of our lives.
