Welcome to Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Matthew 21:12-13 - And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the table of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.

Subject: Turning Over Some Tables....Why....What Time Is It?

  1. This was known as the cleansing of the temple.

  2. Greed is now looked at as success.

  3. Jesus is not pleased.

  4. Sometimes we need to disturb the peace just as Jesus did in the temple.

  5. Why, because worship had been interrupted in the temple.

  6. A place of worship had become a business venture; the people's donations had become diluted into hands of thieves.
When profit comes more important than the people and prayer, it is time to turn over some tables.

The enemy attacks our prayer lives fiercely.

Don't allow religious establishments keep you away from God.

When fear is preached more than faith, it's time to turn over some tables.  The church is supposed to build the gap between us and God.

Sometimes a holy confrontation is necessary.

There's a time to keep silent and there's a time to speak. Ecclesiastes 3:7-8

We must also take a look at ourselves. We might need to turn over our own tables such as, the bitterness in our own hearts, the judgment we turn on others, the high standards we apply own other but not ourselves, the anger we hold in our hearts for years. We must look at ourselves as well.

            God is still in control!
