Greetings from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 - And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eta: this is m body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.  After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.  For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come.

Subject: What is Communion

  • Communion is the symbolic sharing of the elements of the body of Christ.
  • Jesus' last supper
  • Jesus uses this last supper as a symbolic way to show his coming death and resurrection.
  • Matthew 26 (read this chapter)
  • The purpose of Communion: A proclamation of Jesus Christ - the Good New that Jesus would die for our sins but also be resurrected from the dead. This message is from God. (2) This is a way for our focus is on Jesus.  1 Corinthians 10:17 - Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body for we all partake of the one bread.
  • John 17:20-22 - 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
  • The purpose of Communion: It is a time when we give thanks to Jesus Christ.
  • The Purpose of Communion: We set aside a time for us to take an inward look at our own lives.
Holy Communion
