Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Shiloh & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Chester N.

Scripture: Matthew 7:21-23 -Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.  Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?'  Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'

Subject: Does Jesus Know You?

  • We tend to think in the terms of, do we know Jesus. But the more important thing is does Jesus know us?!
  • Two groups that call Jesus their own...those who will enter the Kingdom & those who will not.
  • Matthew 13:24-30 - Let the wheat and tares grow together & God will do the separating.
  • What have we done for Jesus?
  • The comfort to realize is that our works do not reflect our salvation because salvation is a gift from God.
  • By grace we are saved by faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Ephesians 15:17 - Wherefore by you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
  • 2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
  • Our lives should present work but the work is by salvation & for the glory of God.
  • Matthew 16:26 - What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet loses his soul?
  • A new commandment I give to you, that you love one to another.  John 13:34
