Welcome to Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Acts 27:21-25 - 21 After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: “Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. 22 But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed. 23 Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me 24 and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ 25 So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.

Subject: Why are You Praising at a Time Like This?

  • This is from Paul's writings.
  • Some people did not like that the word was spoken & spreading about Jesus.
  • Paul became a prisoner because of his teachings.
  • Psalm 37:4 - Delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires.
  • James 1:2-4 - When troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
  • Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Jesus is the lily of the valley, a way maker, the solid rock,
