Welcome to Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh
Prayer: Pastor Baggett
Scripture: Matthew 14:22-27 - And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
Subject: Blessings and Lessons from the Storm
- Does it feel like the storms of our lives see, endless?
- We should stop, take a deep breath and remember that Jesus is on our side.
- God specializes in caring for us. All we have to do is reach out, pray and be patient.
- Jesus will come to us even in the darkest hours of our lives.
- He will never leave us or forsake us.
- Psalm 139:11-12 - If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hides not from thee; but the night shines as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
- And we know that all things work for the good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
- The storms of lives reveal to us our Lord in ways we haven't thought of.
- Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give you. John 14:27
- Storms are sometimes God's way of telling us that He is in control and that He will calm them in His on time.
- When we come through our storm, we realize that we did nothing, but God did it and we should acknowledge Him. Bow down and praise Him.
