Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Easter Service

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: John 12:12-13 - On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that comes in the name of the Lord.

Mark:15:12-14 - And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will you then that I shall do unto him whom you call the King of the Jews? And they cried out again, Crucify him.  Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil has he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

Subject: From Palms to Passion

  • Palm Sunday is simply the Sunday before Christ was crucified.
  • Passion Sunday - a willingness to suffer from what you love.
  • The unfailing, everlasting God, who poured Himself into His Son and gave to us.
  • We know that God is love.
  • For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
  • Greater love hath no man that this, that a man lay down his life for his brother. John 15:13
  • Christ died for us.
  • Palm Sunday is when Jesus is headed to Jerusalem but stopped off in Bethany. On Monday He came back to Jerusalem where he cursed the tree that bared on fruit and also Jesus came to the court where he found the money-changers. He turned over the tables. On Tuesday Jesus went to the Mount of Olives & was questioned. This is also the day that Jesus told that He would be betrayed. On Wednesday, it is believed that Judas made a bargain to betray Jesus. On Thursday, this is the day Jesus washed feet. Also, Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane to pray.
  • Jesus' last words were, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit."
  • We know that Jesus rose from the dead with all power in His hands.
  • Jesus didn't die for no reason. He died for our sins. Jesus paid it all!
  • If I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. John 12:23
