Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Isaiah 43:18-19 - Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Subject: Our God Is Doing a New Thing

  • What's going on?
  • We sure could use a little good news today.
  • We have areas of our lives where we are dissatisfied. But the beauty of our text is that our God is interested in our future than our past. We should press forward.
  • Isaiah was a mouthpiece for the Lord.
  • The people felt defeated and depressed. God sent a word through Isaiah.
  • God said in verse 1 that He is the creator, the life-giver; and in verse 3 He says He is the savior; & in verse 14 God said that He is the redeemer.
  • We serve a mighty God.
  • In verses 15 & 16 God reminds them that He brought Israel out of bondage, parted the mighty waters.
  • We, too, have found ourselves in bondage to earthly situations. But God has made a way when there seemed to be no way.
  • Won't God do it?!
  • So forget about the things of the past.
  • We must believe that our God is able to see us through; we must have faith - the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
  • For without faith, it is impossible to please God.
  • I hope so, I think so kind of faith is not in accordance with God.
  • Our faith must be strong.
  • Every good and perfect gift comes from above.
  • We must act on our faith.
  • Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God.
  • We are not alone.
  • We can do all things through Christ who strengthen us.
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
