Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Matthew 21:6-11And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

Subject: Who Is This?!

  • Deuteronomy 18:15 - The Lord you God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you from your fellow Israelites; you must listen to him.
  • Isaiah 11:10 - And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
  • Matthew 21:9 - The crowds that went ahead of him and those following kept shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David? Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"
  • Hosanna means save us now.
  • John 6:14-15 - Now when the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus performed, they began to say to one another, "This is certainly the Prophet who is to come into the world." Then Jesus, because he knew they were going to come and seize him by force to make him king, withdrew again up the mountainside alone.
  • Jesus had to power to heal the sick and raise the dead.
  • Matthew 27:37 - Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is Jesus, the King of the Jews.
  • Philippians 2:8-11 - He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death - even death on a cross! As a result, God exalted hi m and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow - in heaven and on earth and under the earth - and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
