Welcome from Brown Chaple/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. I. Pelton

Scripture: Luke 2:8-14And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.

Subject: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, The Real Joy of the World

  • Joy - a glad feeling.
  • How do we fine joy?
  • There is a difference between joy and happiness. Happiness is more of a material thing such as money, clothes, cars, etc.  But joy is not dependent on material things, it comes from Jesus. The joy of the Lord is our strength.
  • There is joy in knowing Jesus.
  • Joy in Jesus #1 Jesus' birth was joy. Unto us a savior is born. #2 Joy in Jesus - He brought joy into the people by healing the lame, brought sight to the blind, etc. #3 Joy in Jesus - When Jesus died & paid for our sins, He rose with all power John 11:25-26 - I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies, and the one who lives and believes in me will never die., & #4 Joy in Jesus - Jesus ascended into heaven, He went to prepare a place for us.
