 Greetings from Brown Chapel/Avant

 & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: Psalm 142:1-7Psalm 142 A maskil [1] of David. When he was in the cave. A prayer.

1
I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.
2
I pour out my complaint before him; before him I tell my trouble.
3
When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way. In the path where I walk men have hidden a snare for me.
4
Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life.
5
I cry to you, O LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."
6
Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me.
7
Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.

Subject: Being Triumphant in Tribulation

  • This Christian journey will be hard at times but we have God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit on our side.
  • John 16:33 - I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage - I have conquered the world.
  • Without God, we are overwhelmed.
  • David did not wallow in self pity.
  • We as Christians sometimes become closed off, depressed or discouraged.  David didn't do that.
  • David took is trouble to the Lord in prayer.
  • What a friend we have in Jesus as Christians.
  • We should always pray and not faint. Luke 18:1
  • James 1:3 - Because you now that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
  • 1 Peter 5:7 - Cast all your cares o him because he cares for you.
  • David began to exercise his faith.
  • Psalm 90:1-2 - O Lord, you have been our protector through all generations! Even before the mountains came into existence, or you brought the world into being, you were the eternal God.
  • Our God is our all and all.
  • We need to stand on the Word of God.
  • David was filled with a confidence and a hope.
  • Trouble doesn't last always.
  • Pray without ceasing; our faith will increase; & then we have the blessed assurance of God
