Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant
Prayer: Rev. Pelton
Scripture: Romans 5:3-4 - 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. Deuteronomy 8:1-2 - Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. 2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands
Subject: Character Matters
- Our lives matter.
- Character is the way someone thinks, lives or behaves.
- Character is self-control, love, be generous, kind, etc.
- Christian character begin with our new birth, when the Holy Spirit indwells us.
- But the character is still not fully developed. It is a life long process.
- Our extreme makeover takes some time.
- Like the development of a pearl, our character is developed similarly.
- When irritating situations arise in our lives, the Lord wants us to start to think of this as a trial which needs our attention to be ready with our "whole armour" of God.
- How do we react in stressful situations? Do we turn away from God or do we remember what God has done for us and what is very capable of doing in a situation.
- Look at the condition of our own hearts. Don't get beside ones-self.
- Have we been tried in the fire and come through as pure gold.
- Don't fall short!
- Tough times are going to come so don't be surprised.
- We must cry out to God, pray to Him in times of need & in good times. Always praise Him.
- Are we listening to God? He allows us to go through things to better understand Him. He is strengthening us day by day in Him.
- Tribulations produces endurance & patience.
- We are preparing for our future with Him.
