Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant

Prayer: Rev. Pelton

Scripture: 1 Kings 20:22-2722Then the prophet approached the king of Israel and said to him, “Go, show yourself courageous and be aware and see what you have to do; for at [l]the turn of the year the king of Aram will march against you.”

23Now the servants of the king of Aram said to him, “Their gods are gods of the mountains; for that reason they were stronger than we. But let us fight them in the plainand we will certainly be stronger than they. 24Carry out this [m]plan: remove the kings, each from his place, and put governors in their place25and [n]muster an army like the army that you have lost, horse for horse and chariot for chariot. Then we will fight against them in the plainand we will certainly be stronger than they.” And he listened to their voice and did so.

26So at [o]the turn of the year Ben-hadad mustered the Arameans and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel27And the sons of Israel were mustered and given provisions, and they went to meet them; and the sons of Israel camped opposite them like two little flocks of goats, while the Arameans filled the country.

Subject: The God on the Mountaintop is also the God in the Valley

  • But God!
  • The valley is thought of as negative.
  • The mountaintop experience is thought of as negative and positive.
  • Mary and Martha's story.
  • Jesus however raised their brother from the dead.
  • 1 Samuel 17 tells the story of the Philistines who were thought to be very mighty.....but God used David to defeat them.
  • Victory comes to those who trust in God.
  • Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5
  • We serve an on time God.
  • Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Psalm 23:4
