April 20, 2025 - Happy Easter

Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh

Prayer: Pastor Baggett

Scripture: Matthew 28:1-8 - Jesus Has Risen

28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

Subject: Resurrection Faith
  • Act 26:8 - Why would any of you consider it incredible that God raised the dead?
  • Mary Magdalene was a woman of many problems, but Jesus delivered her of her sins.
  • Luke 8 We see that Mary Magdalene traveled around with Jesus & his disciples.
  • John 19:25 Near the cross stood Mary, the mother of Jesus, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
  • Why was the stone rolled away? Perhaps it was so that Mary Magdalene could get in and witness that Jesus had arose.
  • The stone was rolled away to give us hope.
  • John 11:25 - Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
  • The Romans tried very hard to stamp out Christianity. But He, who was once dead but is now alive. The Word cannot be stamped out nor forgotten.
  • Jesus was raised from the dead to save a wretch like me.
  • The Book of Acts tells the story of Jesus' death, resurrection, and the ascension.
  • We know that Christ Jesus lives today!
  • Resurrection propels Christianity forward.
  • This joy that I have, the world didn't give it and it sure can't take it away.
