Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh
Prayer: Pastor Baggett
Scripture: Psalm 27:1-4 - The Lord is my light and my salvation; who is then a cause of fear to me? the Lord is the strength of my life; who is a danger to me? When evil-doers, even my haters, came on me to put an end to me, they were broken and put to shame. Even if an army came against me with its tents, my heart would have no fear: if war was made on me, my faith would not be moved. One prayer have I made to the Lord, and this is my heart's desire; that I may have a place in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, looking on his glory, and getting wisdom in his Temple.
Subject: Winning At War-ware Using the Advice of a Veteran of War (King David)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Ephesians 6:12-13
- The Lord is our light. In other words, we should focus on God.
- God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
- Do not lose your spirit of joy.
- We must focus on who God is and how great He is.
- We must keep fellowship with God.
- We have a blessed assurance of Jesus.
- We must always pray and not faint. Luke 18:1
- We must spend in pray; the study of God's word; exercise our faith.
- We must always cry out to God. He will answer us in His own time.
- We must seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
- Nearer my God to thee.
- We must live a upright life.
- They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
- Psalms 27
- Whom shall I fear?
- The Lord is the strength of my life;
- Of whom shall I be afraid?
- 2 When the wicked came against me
- To eat[a] up my flesh,
- My enemies and foes,
- They stumbled and fell.
- 3 Though an army may encamp against me,
- My heart shall not fear;
- Though war may rise against me,
- In this I will be confident.
- 4 One thing I have desired of the Lord,
- That will I seek:
- That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
- All the days of my life,
- To behold the [b]beauty of the Lord,
- And to inquire in His temple.
- 5 For in the time of trouble
- He shall hide me in His pavilion;
- In the secret place of His tabernacle
- He shall hide me;
- He shall set me high upon a rock.
- 6 And now my head shall be [c]lifted up above my enemies all around me;
- Therefore I will offer sacrifices of [d]joy in His tabernacle;
- I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
- 7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
- Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
- 8 When You said, “Seek My face,”
- My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
- 9 Do not hide Your face from me;
- Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
- You have been my help;
- Do not leave me nor forsake me,
- O God of my salvation.
- 10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
- Then the Lord will take care of me.
- 11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,
- And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
- 12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
- For false witnesses have risen against me,
- And such as breathe out violence.
- 13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
- That I would see the goodness of the Lord
- In the land of the living.
- 14 Wait[e] on the Lord;
- Be of good courage,
- And He shall strengthen your heart;
- Wait, I say, on the Lord!
