Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant, Mt. Pleasant & Shiloh
Prayer: Pastor Baggett
Scripture: John 19:25-27 - Now by the side of the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother's sister Mary, the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene. So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple who was dear to him, he said to his mother, Mother, there is your son! Then he said to the disciple, There is your mother! And from that hour the disciple took her to his house.
Subject: How Close Are You?
- Jesus keep me near the cross (gospel song)
- At the cross (gospel song)
- Are we close to the cross? Our relationship to others, our actions in live are a reflection of our closeness to the cross and Jesus.
- Women were at the cross because they loved Jesus.
- Mary Magdalene was at the cross. She was a "changed" woman through Jesus the Christ. She had been possessed by seven demons. Jesus cast out the demons and set her soul free.
- The woman (wife to Zebedee) who ask of Jesus that her sons sit on the right and left hand of him. Jesus had corrected her. Matthew 20:20-21
- Mary, the mother of Jesus, was at the cross because she loved her son and her Lord.
- John, the one that Jesus loved best. John was one of the chosen to accompany Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane.
- We too, can develop a life of care and compassion.
