Welcome from Brown Chapel/Avant & Mt. Pleasant
Prayer: Rev. Pelton
Scripture: Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the farthest parts of the earth.
Subject: Into The Upper Room
- Memorial Day is a celebration of those who have given their lives in military service and any dear loved ones who have gone on to glory.
- Decoration Day was the first name for the now renamed Memorial Day.
- We must not forget what was before.
- Jesus had been crucified & risen from the dead.
- John 19:16-18 - The Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and carrying his own cross he went out to the place called "The Place of the Skull" (called in Aramaic Golgotha). There they crucified him along with two others, one on each side with Jesus in the middle.
- This period of 40 day is a revival and renewal.
- Jesus had told his disciples to stay in Jerusalem to wait for something wonderful.
- They were obedient to Jesus.
- God will take us to higher ground and fill us with his anointing.
- We are filled with the Holy Ghost.
- And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and if say upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
- Somebody prayed for me and I'm so glad.
- John 15:4-5 - Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
- Isaiah 40:31 - But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
