Sermon
Psalm 46:1,2,10 - (v1) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (v2) Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; (10)Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Subject:  Be Still & Know He Is God
  • God is our refuge.
  • We will not fear because God is with us even when we are surrounded by enemies.
  • Fear is a natural response to the unknown but from 2 Timothy 1:7 - For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.
  • When we allow fear to control us, we can't think clearly.
  • Fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
  • In this world, we will have trials and tribulations but in heaven...no more worries.  Revelation 21:4 - He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist anymore - or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the former things have ceased to exist.
  • We don't face troubles alone: Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, He is the one who is going with you! He will not fail you or abandon you!  Hebrews 13:5 - Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for He said, "I will never leave you and I will never abandon you."
  • Romans 8:31 - I God is for us, who can be against us?

Sermon
1 Chronicles 16:8 - Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name, make known His deeds among the people.  Psalm 100:1-5 - Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.  Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing.  Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.  Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.  For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations.
Subject: Living a Thankful Life
  • Remember God for what He has done.
  • He has given us a reasonable portion of our health and strength.
  • Genesis 1:31 - And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.
  • Psalm 121 - I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from which comes my help.  My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He that keeps Israel shall neither slumber not sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon they right hand.  The sun shall not smite thee by day, not the moon by night.  The Lord shall preserve they from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.  The Lord shall preserve they going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
