You’ve Got Heart! Proverbs 3:5 Trust in
the Lord with all your heart and lean not on you own understanding…
o
We all have beating
hearts. The heart is one of the most vital organs in the body. In Proverbs 4:23
it says, “Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.
o
Ephesians 6:14b –
“With the breastplate of righteousness in place.”
o
Righteousness means
(uprightness, justice, honesty)
o
Righteousness also
qualifies as being upright and living in alignment with God’s plan for our
lives.
o
So we have TRUTH
and now RIGHTEOUSNESS. Truth is the backbone and righteousness is
upright living in the will of God.
o
If we are not in
alignment with God then we are unrighteous and susceptible to Satan’s snares.
o
We have often heard
the term, heart and soul, but do we really understand the meaning?
o
Humans are composed of
the BODY which is the in the
physical world; the SPIRIT which
allows us to align with God; and the SOUL
that is our own unique self.
o
It is the soul, that
individual part of us that lends the most trouble. It is said that there are
four parts to the soul: (1) the MIND which is our thoughts; (2) the WILL which
refers to our goals/hopes/desires; (3) the EMOTION which are our feelings/reactions;
and (4) CONSCIENCE which, if you are a true Christian, houses the Holy
Spirit/rightness/decency/ethicalness/morals.
o
Satan can and does
attack each part of the soul with relish and if we aren’t careful and in
alignment with God, he will sneak in.
How Satan attacks the Soul
Satan can creep into our minds with untruths about God’s Word,
using partial verses from the bible or twisting our thoughts thru negative
feedback from others. When we used the opinion of others as a source instead of
studying for ourselves, this causes confusion and mistrust of the bible.
When it comes to our will, Satan takes advantage by steering
one towards a goal that is not in alignment with God’s plan for us or possibly
a get rich quick scheme or luring one into an area that is not meant for them.
Emotions are where Satan can
really shine when we allow our tempers to flare or depression to overtake us or
frustration to linger or………..whatever!!
The conscience is influenced when the mind/mouth does something that
is out of alignment with God, such as, “I’m going to give her/him a piece of my
mind!” You know this is not a good idea but you do it anyway. You are out of
alignment with God and His truth.

There are so many ways Satan can
infiltrate our defenses if we are not Armored Up, if we are not in alignment
with God. But there is always a way back.
In Psalms 81:13-14 – “If my people
would only listen to me, If Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I
would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!
Whew!!! Aren’t we glad that God has
made sure that we are well dressed for battle?!
Sermon
P.E. Mittie Muse, Sr. delivered message from....
John 14:15 - "If you love me, keep my commandments"
Subject: If you say you love me, way do you treat me like you do?"
- If you love me keep my commandments
- It's hard to love, to give, trust, to forgive if you can't even keep the "two" commandments God asked of you which are "Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
- We humans cannot decide who God loves.
- Don't let others steal your joy.
- Don't be afraid to talk about Jesus.
- Taking about God's goodness may renew someone else's faith.
- Don't be afraid to praise God in good times and in bad.
- Put your trust in the Lord.
- After you've prayed, act like you've been in touch with God!
- We must have a relationship with God and also realize that has Jesus was talked about, crucified, etc., we will also suffer.
- Jesus wants us to do what he asked - the two commandments.
