"Difficult Times For Christian Service"
- Identifying certain behaviors in the last days was key to Paul's instructions to Timothy.
- Lovers of money; boastfulness and pride; disobedient to parents; ungratefulness; slanderers; blasphemers; high mindedness; recklessness; tricksters; love pleasure rather than God; acting as if religious but will reject the power that could make them godly.
- Paul advised to stay away from people like these.
- Timothy wanted to follow carefully Paul's doctrine and life so that he could teach others, knowing that he would be persecuted but holding fast to the Scriptures.
- We, as Christians must expect persecution, remembering that if we endure hardship, we will reign with Him. (2 Timothy 2:12)
- All scripture is given by inspiration of God.
- This is God's way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.
Sermon
Subject: The Joy Of Giving!
2 Corinthians 9:6-9 - v6 Remember this - a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. v7 You must each make up your own mind as to how much you should give. Don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves the person who gives cheerfully. v8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. v9 As the Scriptures say, "Godly people give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will never be forgotten."
Ecclesiastes 3:1 - To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
We should always be in a season of giving, not just at Christmas.
The Lord loves a cheerful giver.
Acts 20:35 - It is more blessed to give than to receive.
2 Corinthians 9:6 - If we sow sparingly, we will reap sparingly.
Give as you've made up in your mind to give.
Philippians 4:11 - Learn to be "content"
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
